Blacks & Light 2022

Exhibition of more than 30 original darkroom lith prints in Blacks & Light aesthetics. The exhibition takes place in a doctors’ office in the Nuremberg city center starting from the 24th of June, 2022. If you want to see it, please write me an email or DM me on Instagram. I see photography as a visual language to describe the world I see and feel. That language and how it works is an important part of my work as a photographer. Hence the point of departure for the exhibition is a photographical essay about the elements of this visual language which are used and practiced in the exhibition pictures: you will see dense blacks as well as reflecting blacks, the blacks flanked by colored lights. Those blacks and lights transport my visual words about light, surfaces and feelings. This formal essay leads to pictures that predominantly were taken on trips to foreign countries with a special focus on my favorite topics: on the character of regional and seasonal light, on forms and on surfaces.

In the welcome area you will see a collection of signature pictures of this visual language, single pictures that stand out on their own. In the corridor to the doctors’ rooms you’re passing impressions of landscapes from Chile and Arizona, arid and bathing in beautiful light.

At the coatrack a triptych deals with textures and viewing directions induced by the pictures.

In waiting room 1 you’ll see studies of light and architecture from a 2016 trip to northern Spain, whereas waiting room 2 contains pictures of Texas and California from 2019 and one from Florida, taken 2016.

All pictures were hand-printed by me in spring 2022, almost all on 12x16 inch Fomatone MG 131 paper in a small series of 2 or 4 prints each.
